Word from the US, ebay returns to adwords

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

Last week we had a massive buzz about ebay pulling its ads from google adwords..

Well it would seem that the ads are back on..

Of course not all webmaster/marketers are happy with them being back as the number of ad space take is massive..

Many reports say that the ads are back but not like before..

You used to be able to type things like “black men” and a ad used to come up saying “black men for sale” and stuff like that.. So is this the end of the studip ebay ads ?

Since when has +91 been the UK ?

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

I have a massive number of so called SEO companies submitting to one of my UK directories..

The funny things is within seconds of checking out the sites submitted you see +91 at the start of the phone number ?

Along with the fact that these networked sites have a non uk number but also have no address..

Here is one example www*brickblue*co.uk

Its great to see same coloured text on the footer.. (takes me back)

Security issue now fixed on google optimisation proposal reports!

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Monday here again,

Well last week I was forwarded a google optimisation report.. Now this is a report manual created by your adwords report with ideas and suggestions for your account to improve targetting your ads..

So being interested in what be G had to say about one of my clients accounts I click on the link of the reports…

Now the email from google start link this

Based on your advertising goals, I’ve created an optimization proposal
for UK. To review the proposed changes, go to
https://adwords.google.com/select/OptimizationSuggestion?id=xxxxxxxx

So I clicked on the above link which took me to the adwords login screen and automatically login me in as my tool bar was login into my account…

So how is that a security issue (bug) .. Well me gmail account has nothing to do with this client… I do have a awords account on that login but ZERO access to my clients account..

I think this can’t be right so I try again.. same thing … Logged into someone elses reports..

I sent the link off to a few trusted friends include Barry Schwartz over at search engine round table… All could access my clients optimisation proposal… Crazy..

This was last week and both I and barry emailed google about this before blogging about it.. The fix has already rolled out so you can no longer access other people proposal.. (fast work)

If you haven’t seen a google optimisation proposal report then here is a screen shot for you .

Here are ad groups created/amended suggestion by google

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

Might give this a test… Seems interesting.. Wonder if you can make all the text link up..hmmm

After you embed one simple piece of code on your pages, Context Links automatically identify and link relevant phrases within your page content to Amazon products, unlocking new ad inventory and saving you the time from having to manually create links. You can add the links to your pages in minutes, and we provide a wealth of options to customize how they are displayed.

No more ebay on adwords

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

This is one crazy story over @ thread watch.. and WMW

googles  checkout party here:

http://googlecheckout.blogspot.com/2007/06/let-freedom-ring.html

 Has been canceled!

Google was to promote google checkout at eBay live conference…

EBay has pulled all of its paid search ads from Google AdWords network in the U.S in an eyebrow-raising move likely to be interpreted in the industry as a sign of deteriorating relations between the two Internet giants.

Durzy characterized the decision to pull the U.S. Google ads as an instance in a continued experiment eBay does to determine the best allocation of its advertising and marketing budget.

But a source familiar with the situation said the move is an angry reaction by eBay’s management to Google’s decision to hold a protest party concurrent with the start of eBay Live, the company’s annual conference for merchants.

Reaction over at wmw http://www.webmasterworld.com/google_adwords/3366633.htm
