The longest title for a seo blog I’ve ever seen. - 358 words

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

A seo blog called blackhatplant has by the look of it pinged technorati with what I assume a load of seo blog links as I can’t find a link (yet) …..

Anyway the title of this blog is massive…

Why do this? Well anyone loading up a blog’s dashboard e.g. on wordpress has a pannel with incomming links normally for the result of a blog reactions from technorati…

The screen shot below shows how big the one link is…

Also you can see it by going to http://www.technorati.com/blogs/www.seohome.co.uk/?reactions

The total number of words if 358!!!

SEO is repeated 49 times

Fun :D

Online Scams, bbc highlights on dating sites

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

Looking for LOVE ;)

Nop nor me.. hehehee..

Today on breakfast (a news show at no other than breakfast time in the uk) a great topic about online scams kicked off..

The main focus of the article was regarding dating websites… One guy was show on TV who had forked out £12,000 (about $24,000) for a “lady” from a dating site… Now this guy was as dumb as you get to hand over £1 but hey, loads of dumb people out and about (me included durrrrrr)…

An international initiative by SOCA targeting mass marketing scams says £8 million worth of fake cheques have been seized, mainly from operations out of Nigeria. They also uncovered scams connected to online dating sites.

Basicaly men would pretend to be women (still don’t know why men need to do this) and ask for money… The money would be need to fly said woman to said dumb man in the UK.. All info over emails etc…  hmmm..

Anyway said man will not be doing it again BUT in the interview he was all over the dating site(s) again..

If you want £12k his aka “I’ll give you £12k for free just email - 1969″

Anti spam form for directories ;)

Monday, September 10th, 2007

OK.. This isn’t really going to work for many people but today I added a new way to combat SPAM submissions to one of my directories…

Almost all of my sites are for the UK only… Non UK traffic only really cost me $$ and makes me nothing… Anyway I have a UK directory for the uk.. Simple so no non UK sites are allowed…

Of course many so called SEO’s or spammer can’t F**king read the conditions for a submission…

So… I’ve added the following..

$time_array = localtime(time());
$currenthr=($time_array[2])-1;
if ($currenthr > 9 && $currenthr < 18){

//allow submission

}

else {

// tell them the office is shut  (along with a few other things)

}

At present I have a 82% rejection rate… And because i’m off on my holidays soon I need to cut down this rate..

Posted a bit about it here:

Some people…

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

I don’t know…

I run a uk niche directory in which I have loads of US and indian submissions..

Most are easy to spot e.g. “phoenix web design” .. No phoenix in the uk so I hit the delete button… However… Many UK sites are .com’s some every day I have to check all the submission that arn’t blatant SPAM…

The last site I looked at was portnov.com… I was about to hit the back button but noticed the length on the page…

Yep 47 hidded links.. At the bottom lol..

Since when has +91 been the UK ?

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

I have a massive number of so called SEO companies submitting to one of my UK directories..

The funny things is within seconds of checking out the sites submitted you see +91 at the start of the phone number ?

Along with the fact that these networked sites have a non uk number but also have no address..

Here is one example www*brickblue*co.uk

Its great to see same coloured text on the footer.. (takes me back)

Online banking fraud ‘up 8,000%’

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

Full report over @ beeb but is google msn etc.. Going to do anything about it ?

Most fraud is via phishing email so google/msn can’t do anything about that but serp warning and toolbar would be great :D

 IE7 now has a phishing site alerts which is a step in the right direction..

 This quote is one of the most BS

Rob Gruppetta, of the FSA’s financial crime team, said “phishing” was growing rapidly in the UK.

“We are very concerned about the rate of increase. It has gone up by 8,000% in the past two years.

“But in the grand scheme of total fraud it is still quite small.”

Spam foot prints…

Tuesday, December 5th, 2006

As is soon crimbo and the snow is going to cover the land last start a blog on “foot prints” in the snow..

So in regards to seo, rss, BH and alike what is a foot print.. Well its something left by and application.. The web application used for this blog is word press which has 100’s and foot prints identifying as wordpress.. Not just the link to wp at the bottom but meta info and just folder/code formation…

Any here is a example of one I’ve come across today..

This a script that produces so called “portals” .. I’ve seen the style (application) of these sites submitted to my directories 1,000’s of times..

So for this one you can use the following query..

Click here

The query is from the homepage of seo script.. Thus leaving a foot print in the snow…

Google and alike have some nifty tool from foot print tracking and its a subject I’m going to expand on in the future..
