Amazon has just launched its new front end..

I’m not a mad fan of it but at least it not any worse than before..

I thought i’d check how much the affilates changes have cost me..

WELL i’m not happy lol.. I’m really blogging this so I get off my arse and do some coding for the new xml feed vs the old ones I still use…

One thing of interest is amazon still counts the clicks BUT doesn’t give you any cash for them..

Both myself and friends who are “webmasters” have been lazy and not updated the code “yet” ..

Almost 40k of pages indexed NOT returning amazon products.. This must be costing amazon silly money let alone us webmaster (the lazy ones)

You should be able to see a massive dip on the alexa rank but as it not showing today’s data then we will need to wait..

Alexa suggests traffic has drop 13% over the last 3 month and the site of dropped 3 places since yesterday..

Time to start rewriting loads and loads of php…

Amazon are ending the ECS which was a great way to import items from amazon to affillate site..

Basically you now need to use the new formatting which has been around for a while now.. But many of my person site still import using the old code … ah well..

The new format is really good.. You pick which bits of info you need from the xml feed and import / display on your site lowering bandwidth and making sites a lot faster..

Kindle is a little computer which allows you to download books/blogs/newspaper from amazon at a cost…

This could be a big thing and for us seo’s the most interesting thing would be to find out how to get your blog on the list..

The telegraph mentions you can only download book from amazon ONLY so I’m guessing it will be the same for the blogs..

Someone buys something and sends it back a month later.. hmmm..

So the other day I had a negative amount in my amazon affiliates account

The updaye also allow me to add new tracking ID’s without emailing amazon like I had to before…

Great news..

Been playing and testing the new contextual links today and now get the following error

ERROR The requested URL could not be retrieved

Both the new contextual and the “optimised” are breaking …

I was going to blog today about it.. And this AM its was working a treat.. It took a few refresh to give me items and not books .. But for about 30mins now it down

Tried from a few ip’s and varying dns but nop down

Might give this a test… Seems interesting.. Wonder if you can make all the text link up..hmmm
