Google Website Optimizer - Landing page heaven!

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

 Quoted from google :

Looking to increase the number of conversions you’re getting on your site? If so, you’ll likely be interested to hear what Ann-Lee, from the Website Optimizer team, has to say about a new tool:

So google allowing us to play with our page content but just with them

Website Optimizer to experiment with your landing page does not have any impact on your Quality Score

Pretty cool.. I assume google going to take this info and work out web page formations and “maybe” include them in rankings ?

Having a quick look at the site first page I came accross that shows this “large rectangle” was http://nexus.webelements.info/book which has 0 content.. hmm..

Tis a bit over the top imho.. http://nexus.webelements.info/node/999

linkfromdomain: on msn live.com

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

“linkfromdomain:”

Wit today points out a topic from threadwatch here http://www.seorefugee.com/forums/showthread.php?p=38464#post38464

Tw: http://www.threadwatch.org/node/9360

A New Operator

We have one new, very exciting operator: LinkFromDomain. Using LinkFromDomain in your search includes all sites that are linked from a given domain. This complements LinkDomain (which includes all sites that link to a given domain) that was introduced back in June, 05.

The visual below depicts “YourSite.com” and a set of related sites. The Blue nodes represent sites with reciprocal links, while the yellow nodes are sites you link to, and the green nodes sites that link to you. Here’s how you would capture these domains with advanced syntax:

Adsense Update! Multiple custom channels is here.

Monday, October 16th, 2006

Google have update the “Custom Channels” ad set up to allow greater flexability!…

Haven’t yet tried it but will very soon.. My personal use would be for to test colours over multi sites and the ad position..

Google would seem to do the same!

What’s the benefit of tracking with more than one custom channel? Well, multiple channels can be very useful when you want to track one ad unit across several different metrics simultaneously. For example, let’s say you run a sports website and you’ve placed a leaderboard at the top and bottom of every page. To track the performance of the ad placement, you’ve created two custom channels — ‘TopLeaderboard’ and ‘BottomLeaderboard’ — and regenerated your ad code appropriately.

google.com/gmm live! palm maps

Monday, October 16th, 2006

Maps in the Palm in your hand..

Quote from the google blog..

Since we first launched Google Maps for mobile devices, we’ve adapted it to more phones and languages and added features like traffic info. And as of today, the new Palm Treo version answers our top request from users. It’s been months in the making, but I think you’ll find it worth the wait. We think this is the fastest, slickest version yet, with draggable maps and translucent pop-up balloons that don’t hide the map.

People still have been wondering about when ads well go live on mobile devices

Aol bought by Carphone warehouse..

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006

So from now on aol customers will have broadband supplied by carphone warehouse / talktalk and look like becoming the largest boardband supplier in the uk..

I was hoping that maybe, just maybe it would set up some new advertising system and a new engine/engine suppilers for us folks in the uk but at present nothing is going to change or is it ? ??

It will be keeping the AOL name and the US firm’s policy of charging customers.
