google update?

Tuesday, September 19th, 2006

Quite a few people are reporting an update yesterday..

Most a seeing a major movements.. Many of are suggesting a data refresh which can effect sites in a big,big way!!

Its doesn’t seem to be a algo change as only a few people seem to be affected (at present) so the refresh is effecting what I assume site the are replying on a few links or many links from the say site/ip/bloop.. (bloop=back link  over optimisation penalty)

Some discussion on the “update” here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=142305

British airways and google earth

Monday, September 18th, 2006

Every day I get on the tube at a station called highburry and islington in north london..

I’ve always looked at the ads in tube stations and noticed the other day that BA had a new ad to a location..

The Ad used google earth..

Anyways thought i’d look up what ba is saying about google if any thing and yep on the ba homepage google earth is on full display..

Not only that but ba have a layer for google earth of all the destinations ba fly to with extra info..

So google updated the “google earth” application so you can find out more info on the area of the earth your looking at..

Google has labeled is as “Google Introduces Featured Content for Google Earth
http://www.google.com/press/pressrel/earth_featured_content.html

So far this update includes the likes of:

  • United Nations Environmental Program
  • Discovery Networks World Tour
  • National Park Service
  • Jane Goodall Institute

By some accounts, nearly half of the information on the web actually relates to a place on earth. We’d like to help you find the best of that information and place it in the visually compelling context of our beautiful planet.

Banned books ooooo… Freedom - Freedom..

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

A week Of freedom reading!!

 From google banned books.. :

To Kill a Mockingbird. Of Mice and Men. The Great Gatsby. 1984.  It’s hard to imagine a world without these extraordinary literary classics, but every year there are hundreds of attempts to remove great books from libraries and schools. In fact, according to the American Library Association, 42 of 100 books recognized by the Radcliffe Publishing Course as the best novels of the 20th century have been challenged or banned.
