Facebook is racist?

Friday, August 17th, 2007

I’ve been meaning to blog this for 2 weeks but kept letting it slip but hey here we are…

So why could facebook be a racist…

At the start of August 2007 a load of massive advertisers in the UK pulled out of using facebook to promote their products..

2 of the big players in the uk that end advertising are Vodafone and Virgin…

So why? Whats this all about ?

Well over in the UK we have a “group” / “party” called the BNP (Britsh national party)

The BPN is a very “Right-wing group”

Here is a quote from vodafone

“Our public policy principles state that we do not make political donations or support particular party political interests and therefore to avoid misunderstandings we immediately withdrew our advertising as soon as this was brought to our attention.”

Yahoo answer my prayers

Monday, August 6th, 2007

According to yahoopete over on SEW forums yahoo are going to ditch the minium spend for us in the UK

I’ve been asking for this for umm… Well as long as I can remeber..!

Here is a quote from the forums:

Yup, there will be no minimum monthly spend on UK accounts from August 1, 2007 onwards.

Posts from yahoopete :

http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?t=18948

The only problem is the uk yahoo page hasn’t been update as yet

  1. Each account requires a nonrefundable £60 initial deposit, which applies towards click charges. There is a minimum bid requirement of £0.05 per click-through. Please note that as the minimum bid depends on the specific search term, certain keywords will have a minimum bid of £0.05 and others a minimum bid of £0.10. Each account has a £20 monthly minimum spend.

see:

http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com/en_GB/arp/pricing.php

Some of you think i’m crazy.. £20.. That’s nothing.. True but some people say have a budget of £30 a month and the traffic / clicks isn’t enough to hit the £20 mark..

It’s happened to me and others… You get a email saying that you only spent £15 but yahoo going to take £20 whatever…

Hope yahoo gets blog and contract info updated soon ?

Summer 2007 UK traffic down a little more lower than normal

Monday, July 30th, 2007

Each year the traffic drops in many theme’s and this year is no exception..

Summer 2007 in the uk has had massive effects on traffic levels due to the following: (imho)

  • The rain
This is a 50/50 as hot sunny days in the uk seem to send more traffic but with the flooding 1,000’s of people have no access to water let alone the net..
  • Harry Potter…
omg the affect on non kids/book/harry potter sites was pretty big in the last week or two.. Not only the book but the film double trouble..
  • Forecast..
Now I’ve mentioned rain but so many UK’ers that would holiday in the uk have been going aboard… Since the floods many holidays have gone up in price and move Hol’s have been sold compared with last yeh…

Basically the niche’s I work in are not weather, harry potter, forecasting, flooding, kids or holidays… Of course all these theme’s “should” of seen a increase and  not a loss..
